Building Online Buzz for Independent Musicians

Viral Marketing | Comments (0) gotwebmojocom @ 12:00 am

Once upon a time in the music industry, unknown musicians struggled to get that one big, influential gig. They worked hard, networked, and hunted for their big break. A lot of amazing musicians never achieved widespread success because they weren’t fortunate enough to know anyone in the recording industry. The bands that did make it big were often sanitized, given a gimmick, and packaged and sold as whatever image the label decided on.

Luckily for musicians, those days are no longer. Today, being signed to a major label is no longer the ultimate in music achievement. Musicians pride themselves on remaining indies instead of signing on with a label. Modern music distribution is achieved through the clever usage of technology and social marketing. You make your music available to a wide audience by - get this - actually communicating with your audience.

Viral music marketing is all about putting your name out there and letting your audience come to you. You impress five people with your talent and your personality; they pass your info on to five more people, and so on. It may sound easy, but it requires a considerable amount of energy. Playing live shows, networking with other musicians, maintaining a website, profiles on social networks, and still finding time to rehearse are all essential parts of your internet marketing campaign.

The whole point of viral music marketing is to get people talking. How do you do that when most of the internet population won’t stay put for more than three seconds? You give something away for free. Play free gigs at the corner coffee shop or at the deli downtown. Play wherever you’re allowed to play. Have your website or social network profile URL displayed prominently. Have it printed on business cards to hand out at your shows. Promote that site to your heart’s content, and then promote it some more.

Of course, all of that promotion isn’t worth much if your website is barren or not at all interesting. If you don’t have the time or skills to create a great band website, hire someone to do it for you. If you can’t afford to hire someone, just use a social networking profile page. There’s no shame in that - in fact, there are some impressively popular bands today that owe most of their success to online marketing through social networks.

If you have the facilities and the equipment, make a video and some sample songs to post on your website or social network profile. This works in the same way as playing free gigs: give people something for free and it will generate buzz. When you generate buzz, you get the chance to impress potential fans.

Besides keeping your profile or website up to date, participate in forums and music discussions online. Be an active member in the music community and get to know other artists. Don’t spam the boards with two-word comments that don’t relate to the conversation; share your expertise and be helpful. Always have your website or social network profile URL in your signature so that it displays after every post you make.

Internet marketing and social marketing are undoubtedly the smartest way to promote your music right now. Besides giving you the freedom to remain independent and avoid the creativity-crushing hassle of signing with a major label, it is the only way that some people are exposed to new music. We’re increasingly an on-demand kind of society, and CD sales and radio play just don’t hold as much sway in a musician’s career as they once did. Consumers want fresh music and they want it now. Give them what they want and show them what you’ve got - in the world of internet marketing, every musician has an equal chance to be the next big thing.

A truly successful affiliate marketing business is built upon a professional looking, informative, and helpful website. Here all of your marketing efforts will begin, leading off to the various products and services you promote.

It is essential that you first focus on creating a website filled with content that will cater to your audience and reach out to their needs. Provide original, relevant and useful content. People will seek out information and help for free and only pay for it if they trust the source they are purchasing from.

Gain that by providing them information and sincere advice through free content. In doing so, you establish yourself as an expert in the field and a person wanting to help them obtain the information they need.

With information about your site and a link placed in the resource box, you build your reputation in the market as someone of expertise and the link gets you free advertising, delivering people to you site.

The more articles you submit and get placed, the better your link popularity will be. But you definitely want to write articles of great content that are original and helpful. If a webmaster likes your article and publishes it on his or her site, this will greatly increase the clicks on your link and traffic to your website.

Use eBay To Advertise Your Internet Business With An About Me Page

Site Promotion | Comments (0) tomgoal @ 12:00 am

If you are able to use eBay to advertise your internet business with an About Me page, then you have a non-sleeping partner that will help to make you money even while you yourself sleep. If this sounds a bit unlikely, then sit back and listen up, because this technique is used by some of the world’s richest eBay users to boost their online businesses, even if they have nothing to do with eBay.

I can hear the cogs and wheels in your brain whirling round about that. How can you use eBay to advertise a business that has nothing to do with eBay? The answer to that likes in a little used feature of eBay that is not widely advertised, but that the better internet marketers know about and can take full advantage of, even though eBay might be only a very minor part of their business.

Before this secret is revealed, let’s have a look at an average online business. EBay can be used to make money in a number different ways; although each involves publishing an eBay listing on the site for the product or service you are selling. You can sell new goods that you purchase at one price and sell at a higher price. You can buy at wholesale prices and sell at individual retail prices to make a profit. You can even dropship, buying individual products at a wholesale price, and then having the merchant deliver the product once you have paid them from the buyer’s payment to you.

Whichever of these ways you use to make money on eBay, you can include a link to your About Me page on your listing. This is a page that eBay allows you to design to your own specifications, and as long as you are not advertising products that you are not selling on eBay, you can use it to lead visitors to a non-eBay website. This is particularly useful if you have your own website.

The About Me page is an html page that can include the following:

Your website URL, or the URL to any page on your website. There is no limit to the number of URLs you can provide. You can provide your Feedback record, and details of other products you are selling on eBay, including your eBay store. You can also offer useful information, such as mini-tips or links to useful info-sites (e.g. yours!).

It doesn’t take too many brain cells to see how such a page can be used to your advantage, and the various ways in which you can use it. Don’t break eBay rules in using it, but it really is easy to advertise your own websites - as many as you want. This is because you can change your page every now and again.

Even if you have no website, get one. Offer anything on it that will earn you money, even an affiliate product or simply use it as a squeeze page to offer a newsletter which is within eBay guidelines. You can even add pictures, audio and video to your About Me page.

A link to the page can be placed anywhere in your listing that suits you. You can only have one About Me page, but are allowed to modify it as often as you want, so you can change it daily if you want to promote a different website each day. Everybody that clicks on your listing to see your description will see your About Me link, and you can use words in your listing to ensure the click-through.

It is used by very few eBay sellers, and now that you know how to use eBay to advertise your internet business with an About Me page then your traffic should increase in line with the traffic you attract to your eBay listing. It is a very small price for traffic that would cost a fortune in PPC costs.

Using E-Mail Marketing with Affiliate Marketing for Profit

Affiliate Programs | Comments (0) judesbiz @ 12:00 am

Making a profit with affiliate marketing is not as easy as it may sound. One way to increase those profits is by utilizing e-mail marketing. This is also true if you have your own product. I’m sure that you’ve heard it more than once, but — the money IS in the list.

In order to build your own subscriber list, you must have your own website. And, it is best to have your own domain name to build branding to your newsletter. Your newsletter subscriber box should be visible right away when your website is opened. That means it should be located above the fold or, in other words, on the top third of your web page.

You will need to have an autoresponder script or service in place. I have found that an autoresponder service is more reliable. Most web hosting companies do not allow mailing scripts to be run on their servers.

Your subscriber e-mail addresses need to be captured using a double opt-in method. This ensures that they are aware that they are being subscribed to your newsletter. In a double opt-in subscription, the first opt-in occurs when your subscriber fills out the subscriber form. An immediate e-mail is sent to the subscriber requesting that they confirm their subscription. This is a double opt-in.

You must provide a link at the bottom of each e-mail message that you send out that gives your subscriber the option to unsubscribe. If you do not provide this link, you will be in violation of the Can Spam Laws. This can cause your IP to be banned or even your website to be shut down.

So, how do you get people to sign up for your newsletter? The answer is to give them something for free. Create or find a PLR report that you can give away. It doesn’t have to be a 100 page manuscript. Ten to fifteen pages will be adequate. But, make sure that it has information that is really usable.

You will get more sign-ups if you have a graphic representation or ecover for your report. These days, you can hire someone to do this for you very reasonably. With a graphical ecover, people are more likely to think that they are getting something more substantial.

Make sure that your free report has links to the affiliate programs that you are promoting, or to your own product if you have one. Just like on a web page, it works best if you tie the affiliate program to the content of the page. For instance, if your report is about wild birds, don’t have an affiliate program promoting skiing.

The last step in creating your report is to compile it into a PDF format. Most people will not download something that is in a text or Microsoft Word format. PDF software is becoming more and more available at reasonable prices all the time. Go to Google.com and type in PDF compiler to find one that is in your price range.

Using e-mail marketing to promote your affiliate programs can be very profitable. Just be sure that you use common sense and that you do not violate any spam laws.
