Finding A Niche To Target With Information Products

Internet Marketing | Comments (0) dustmagic @ 12:00 am

Before you begin selling information products on the Internet, you want to make sure you’re targeting a niche that will be profitable for you in the short and long-term. A niche just means your target audience.

Some niches, as you’ll discover, aren’t as profitable as others. You need to look at your audience and see if they’re willing (and able) to spend money for the solutions they’re seeking.

For instance, golfers have deep pockets because the game of golf in itself is expensive. They’re also rabid fans of the game who would do anything to improve their score or beat their competitors on the links.

But another niche, such as single moms on a budget may not be willing to pay $67 for an information product showing them how to get organized. Sometimes it depends on the solution itself. Targeting this same niche of single moms, you may find some are willing to pay $47 for an eBook that shows them how to make more money working from home than they do in their regular 9-5 jobs.

One good place to start is with online groups and forums. You can go to iVillage or Yahoo and see what kind of groups garner the most posts. Men’s groups such as AskMen might give you insight into what kind of information products this portion of the population might need that help you generate a handsome profit.

You’re not just looking for a broad group of people to cater to ‘ you’re looking for those with a lot of problems. When you start creating your information products, you’ll want to build an empire of products that all focus on the same niche, allowing you to market to existing, loyal customers who buy from you time and time again.

Sometimes, you’ll find one large niche and then realize you need to build your information product line around a more targeted, narrow niche of people. For instance, parents in general have many problems you could address, such as raising smart kids, dealing with discipline, and saving money.

But you can then narrow that niche to moms or dad and dig deeper by focusing on parents of multiples or parents raising kids with physical ailments. Just remember that an information product is not really a product at all ‘ it’s a solution, so it needs to be marketed as something that will improve lives.

Use The Right PPC Keywords Or You’ll Lose A Fortune

Pay Per Click | Comments (0) dustmagic @ 12:00 am

Many Pay Per Click advertisers source their PPC keyword list based on the number of searches for a particular keyword or keyphrase.

They’ll grab the top 100 keywords or choose the keywords with the most searches. More searches equals more traffic and in turn more sales / leads right?

They will then edit and format their list deleting irrelevant keywords as they go. Then they nip over to their favourite Pay Per Click search engine and drop their list into a campaign and away they go.

What’s wrong with this scenario?

Without getting two in-depth, for one if you take the top 100 keywords the chances are you are going to hit some serious competition. Every guy and his dog are doing this. They’re all bidding for the same keywords and driving up the Pay Per Click costs.

Secondly the second pitfall is that they’re probably targeting prospects that are at the start of the buying / application cycle.

What do I mean by that?

Prospects tend to start their search with a broad term; particularly those that are not so search engine savvy. They will go down a particular path. Here’s a simple example; our prospect lives in Key West, Florida and he’s looking for a ‘widget’. He does a search on widget. At this point looking at the results (you may get a click on your ad), he realises that he’s not looking for a ‘widget’ at all. He’s looking for a ‘blue widget’.

So he refines his search, ‘blue widget’ the results pop up and he checks through them (again you may get a click), and realises it’s not a ‘blue widget’ he wants but a ’round blue widget’. So he types that in.

He finally finds almost exactly what he wants on his third search (again you may get a click), but it’s still not quiet right. He wants his ’round blue widget’ as soon as possible, he wants to be able to go out and pick one up locally.

So now he types in his fourth keyphrase attempt at finding what he wants ’round blue widget florida’ (chances are you’re not advertising on that phrase so you’re not going to get a click here). But Florida is a big place. Now I’m sure you can guess what’s coming next.

Yup in goes ’round blue widget key west florida’ (Now there’s even less chance that you’re advertising on this phrase). But guess what this is the point at which our prospect is most ready to become a customer. Five searches after his initial attempt at finding the product he was after.

Now this is a very simple example and it’s possible that a specific site offering ’round blue widget key west florida’ could of turned up in the initial search and presented a shortcut. But in most cases this doesn’t happen and our prospect wouldn’t necessarily be ready for it if it did.

Why? Because our prospect in most cases NEEDS to go through the above routine to actually mentally realise what exactly it is that he wants.

I’m sure you’ve done it yourself on numerous occasions. I know I have. You enter a broad phrase, reject the results and refine your keyword, rinse and repeat until you’ve nailed the phrase that brings up the right results.

Now if you are advertising on those first few search ‘loops’ you are almost definately loosing money. Dig a little deeper and consider refining your Pay Per Click keyword lists to target your prospects more accurately. By doing this you will not only save on click costs but raise your CTR and your profits.

Track PPC keywords In Real-Time And Increase Sales

Pay Per Click | Comments (0) dustmagic @ 12:00 am

How can you feasibly expect to make the most of your Adwords or PPC campaigns if you are not tracking your keywords and learning which keywords are converting to sales?

Lots of clicks on a particular ad for a certain keyword doesn’t guarantee that that keyword is the one providing the sales / leads.

It could be that on checking your campaign you see 10 clicks on one particular keyword and 2 clicks via another keyword. With 2 sales as a result of these 12 clicks your first instinct is that those 10 clicks have most likely provided your 2 sales.

This is most definitely not always the case. I’ve seen some keywords receive lots of clicks but zero sales and other keywords make a sale with almost every click.

If you are serious about running the best campaigns for the highest ROI (Return On Investment) you should be tracking which keywords are converting to a sale / lead. You can loose serious money if you’re not tracking your keywords at this level.

So how do you do this?

You could use Googles own ‘Conversion Tracking’ tool, which is part of the Adwords system. In fact you should. But there’s one problem. The statistics are not real-time, there’s a one hour delay between the click on your ad and the report of the click in your administration area.

Although not a major issue this presents the possibility that you will haemorrhage cash initially until you run through all your testing, keyword and bid editing and filtering for your campaign. There is another option.

Track Your PPC Keyword Conversions In Real-Time

Another way to track is to add some very simple code to your landing pages. (Note you will need to do this with the Adwords Conversion tracking tool as well). By adding some basic code to your landing page and the destination URL in your ad you can track in real-time which keywords are converting.

To the point of having the exact keyword / phrase that results in a sale / lead delivered with that sale or lead. In other words as each completed sale or lead arrives in your inbox you also get the keyword / phrase that resulted in that sale / lead.

This will allow you to quickly spot a trend or a hot keyword and adjust your bid accordingly to bring in more clicks for that converting keyword.

The Dynamic Landing Page

Another benefit of using this method is that you can tailor your landing page to any particular keyword / phrase coming via your Adwords campaign.

What do I mean by that?

It’s very simple. You can take the keyword / phrase that has just resulted in a click on your ad and rather than just have it sent to your inbox with a sale / lead you can have it displayed on your landing page. Wherever you choose.

Think about that for a moment. A prospect has just searched on Google, clicked on your ad, arrived at your landing page and seen the exact same keyword / phrase he’s just used on Google. How much more inclined will he be to believe he’s found what he’s looking for? How much more likely is he to take action because of this?

Answer: You will see a huge increase in your conversions!

Placing this keyword in the browser title, the page title, the alt tags and the body copy moves your prospect much closer to taking action and becoming a customer.

Make Money with Adsense The Basics

Adsense | Comments (0) dustmagic @ 12:00 am

Adsense is probably one of the quickest and most powerful roots to website profits with the easy implementation of a simple snippet of code. If used properly it can generate a great passive income for any site. But that’s the crux if you’re not placing the right Adsense code in the right style and in the right position on your pages then you’re actually loosing money.

Apart from the ease of implementation the results you can achieve are fast and they can also be surprising and exciting.

The first thing to do when considering Adsense is to research your keywords. Research your market if you’re adding Adsense to an existing site or explore niche markets if this is a new site. Examine keywords and keyphrases from the market that get the most searches on the search engines. There are a number of sites and software tools that will allow you to do this some of them even giving you the click costs, essentially how much you will make per click on an ad.

Select say 10 keywords or keyphrases and then consider your site content or for best results create new content. Unique and keyword rich articles related to your site theme work well. Use your 10 keywords to choose an article theme and then create an article for each keyword. Aim to have around 3% keyword density for each article. Keyword density is the number of times your keyword appears in relation to the number of over all words in the article.

Be sure to make your article informative and grammatically correct. Badly written articles, focused on SEO only, will do you no favours and often turn visitors away and maybe pop up on the search engine radar, which could mean a slip in your site rankings. Think long term here. There is no reason that, once set up, your Adsense site wouldn’t continue to bring in a passive growing income for years to come.

Once you have your articles build your site.

Now before you insert the ad code you should consider two things, the styling of the ads and the positioning. The styling is possibly the most important. A badly styled ad in the perfect position on your page will get a poorer click through rate than a well-styled ad in the same position.

The best click through rates, when it comes to styling, have been proven to come from removing the ad borders and setting the background colour to match your page background colour. Essentially blending the ads into the page and getting them to look like part of the page content. You should also have the colour of the links on your page match those of the ads.

Next consider the positioning of your ads. Place your ads where site visitors are most likely to click on them. Research shows that the top left of the page is the first spot to draw the eye and in turn get the most clicks. The new format ‘Ad Links’ work well here. The other hotspot is directly within the body of your content. The square formatted ads at the top right of your body copy work best here.

The correct styling and positioning of your ads is crucial for better click throughs and higher payouts.

You will get clicks on your ads almost no matter where you place them if you have enough site traffic. But styling and positioning them properly from the start can triple or more your click through rates.

Adsense has good tracking statistics that allow publishers to track their results across a number of sites on a site-by-site, page-by-page basis. You should make the most of this facility to learn which ads are performing the best and fine-tune them accordingly to improve your results.

Finally, you have the option to use image ads instead of text only. But, the average Net user is sophisticated enough now to ignore image based ads. They’re now almost universally blocked subconciously by Net users as advertising. Stick to text ads only. Be sure this is set in your account you can do this in ‘My Account’.

To really start making money with Adsense, you should have a definite focus on what you want to achieve and how you will go about achieving it. Set income goals day by day and work to increase your income by tweaking your pages and adding more keyword targeted content.

Consitently improving your site and introducing new content will see your Adsense profits grow.

Darren Yates is the developer of Ad Injector. Brand new software that places your Adsense code directly into your unique content across hundreds or thousands of pages fast.
